We thrilled to share our latest Ofsted Report from our recent inspection in November 2025.

The report uses the new Report Card system, which replaces the previous single-word grading with a more detailed evaluation across key areas of provision.

Magnolia Tree Ofsted Inspection Scorecard

The published report confirms the nursery met all required standards, with several areas assessed as ‘strong’, including children’s behaviour and attitudes, and welfare and wellbeing.

Whilst there is no direct link with the old gradings, Ofsted state that reaching 'Expected' in any area is more challenging that the pervious 'Good' grades!

Key outtakes from the report

Inspectors highlighted the nursery’s open safeguarding culture and the positive relationships between staff and children, as well as noting that the children are happy, settled and confident, supported by consistent routines and calm, attentive care.

Staff were praised for encouraging curiosity, engagement and respectful behaviour, both indoors and in the nursery’s large outdoor garden space.

The nursery’s leadership and curriculum were also judged to meet the expected standard, providing children with a secure foundation for learning and development.

Our directors, Debbie and Georgina said: “We’re incredibly proud to be the first nursery in Brighton & Hove to be inspected under the new Ofsted framework. As one of a handful of locally owned nurseries in the area, it’s reassuring to see the report recognise our Educators focus on wellbeing, safety and creating a nurturing environment where children feel confident and supported. They are a fantastic team”

If you have any questions about any points noted in the report please do feel free to reach out the nursery manager.
